"Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren't always comfortable, but they're never weakness."
- Brené Brown
My Approach
I offer an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on a range of theories and tailoring therapy to the individual and their unique context, circumstances and challenges. This often includes person-centered, psychodynamic, attachment-focused modalities, and CBT/DBT techniques where appropriate. My approach is grounded in empathy, integrity, and evidence-based practices, ensuring a safe and supportive space for clients to navigate life’s challenges.
About me
Hello, I'm Bêne (pronounced "Beanie"), a South African/British Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC. I have been practicing for over four years, providing compassionate and tailored support to individuals and couples. Currently, I am in the final stages of completing my PhD, which focuses on disenfranchised grief—a subject I am deeply passionate about.
1.
Individual
Psychotherapy
Individual psychotherapy is a collaborative and confidential process between a therapist and a client aimed at addressing various psychological, emotional, and behavioural challenges. In this therapeutic relationship, the client has the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and behaviors in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space.
2.
Couples/Relationship
Therapy
Couples or Relationship therapy using an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approach, offers a supportive space for partners to address relationship challenges, enhance communication, and deepen emotional bonds. Though a structured process couples work together to identify and transform negative patterns of interaction, fostering greater understanding, connection, and resilience in their relationship.
3.
Empowered Grief Support Group
The Empowered Grief Support Group offers a safe space for grieving hearts to share their stories of life after loss. By normalising the realities of grief, these groups help grievers feel less alone as they learn what is truly normal in grief. While society often suggests that grief is neat, tidy, and quickly overcome, I believe it is lifelong as it becomes a part of who you are. Whether you're new to grief or have been navigating it for some time, these groups provide a lifeline of support and connection.
