My Approach
I was trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), client-centred therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). I am also completing further training in Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

With this, I have developed an integrative approach to therapy, allowing me to tailor and personalise therapy to the individual and their unique context, circumstances and needs. My therapeutic approach draws from person-centered, psychodynamic, and attachment-based modalities. When appropriate, I incorporate skills training from DBT and CBT. My approach is often flexible, moving from one type of modality to another as the session demands. I take a holistic, non-pathologising view of therapy, recognising the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and context in influencing one's well-being.

Central to my approach is the creation of a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental collaborative space where clients can feel safe to open up and experience a sense of feeling seen, heard and understood. As a therapist I have often been described as empathetic, gentle and nurturing. While I am not the kind of therapist who takes a passive role in therapy, I am more likely to be gentle in my approach, even when challenging.
I prioritise fostering a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust and empathy. Within this relationship, clients take an active role in their own healing journey, drawing on their unique insights and experiences, to empower them to navigate both their internal and external worlds with curiosity, compassion and understanding.

"Rather than particular techniques, the far greater predictors of positive outcomes are therapeutic relationships, or counsellor qualities in therapeutic relationships that capitalize on clients’ internal strengths."
- Jeff Cochran and Nancy Cochran
